Extraction Process for Coffee Robusta
- Green Robusta beans (unroasted) are selected, cleaned, and dried.
- Beans are coarsely ground to enhance solvent contact.
- Solvent extraction (ethanol-water or hydroalcoholic) to target caffeine & polyphenols.
- Supercritical CO₂ extraction for high-purity caffeine and oil-based actives.
- Hot water extraction for cost-effective, traditional preparations.
- Removal of solids followed by vacuum evaporation to concentrate the extract.
- Either spray drying or freeze-drying is used to convert liquid to powder.
- Commonly standardized to 45%-50% chlorogenic acids and 2%+ caffeine.
