Echinacea purpurea – Herbal Extraction Plant
Primary Use: Immune system booster, antiviral support
Extraction Process
- Harvesting & Cleaning: Aerial parts and roots are harvested when flowers are in full bloom, typically mid to late summer.
- Drying : The plant parts are washed and dried at low temperatures to retain actives like alkylamides and polysaccharides.
- Grinding : Dried material is ground to a coarse or fine powder depending on the extraction method.
- Spray Drying / Freeze Drying: Cold maceration or ultrasound-assisted extraction may be used for sensitive compounds.
- Filtration & Concentration: Extract is filtered and concentrated under vacuum to remove the solvent while preserving actives.
- Drying: Spray drying or freeze drying converts the extract into powder for capsules, tablets, or blends.
- Standardization : Often standardized to 4% polyphenols or 0.25–0.5% echinacoside
