Extraction Process
- Harvesting & Cleaning: Roots of mature Hemidesmus indicus plants are dug up during the dry season.
- Drying : Dried in shade or at low temperatures to retain essential oils and active components.
- Grinding : Once dried, the roots are crushed or ground into smaller pieces or coarse powder for effective extraction.
- Solvent Extraction : Extraction methods include maceration, percolation, or Soxhlet extraction.
- Filtration & Concentration: Concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain a semi-solid extract.
- Drying: The extract may be spray dried to form a fine powder or vacuum dried for paste forms.
- Standardization : Active markers like hemidesmin, saponins, and essential oils are tested and standardized.
