Karela (Momordica charantia)
- Raw Material Selection: Karela, commonly known as Bitter Melon, is highly valued in traditional and modern herbal medicine for its anti-diabetic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. Fresh, mature fruits are selected from trusted agricultural sources.
- Cleaning and Preparation: The karela fruits are thoroughly washed to remove dirt and residues. After cleaning, the fruits are sliced into uniform pieces to aid in uniform drying and effective extraction.
- Extraction Process: The powdered material is loaded into a stainless steel solvent extractor. A hydro-alcoholic mixture (commonly ethanol and water) is used as the extraction medium. The material is subjected to maceration or percolation, depending on the plant batch and scale.
- Filtration and Concentration: Post-extraction, the mixture is passed through industrial filters to separate the liquid extract from the solid residues.
- Standardization: The dried extract is standardized to key markers like charantin, using analytical techniques like HPLC, to ensure consistency and therapeutic effectiveness.
- Packaging and Storage: The final product is packed in air-tight, moisture-resistant containers and stored in a cool, dry place to maintain stability and shelf life.
- Quality Control: Each batch undergoes rigorous quality checks including microbiological testing, heavy metal screening, solvent residue analysis, and phytochemical profiling.
