Green Coffee Extract (99% Caffeine USP)
- Raw Material Sourcing: High-quality Coffea arabica or Coffea canephora (Robusta) green coffee beans are sourced, with a focus on high natural caffeine content. Beans are unroasted to retain maximum caffeine.
- Cleaning & Preparation: Green coffee beans are unroasted seeds of Coffea arabica or Coffea canephora (Robusta). High-quality, pesticide-free beans are selected to ensure maximum retention of chlorogenic acids (CGA), the key active compound.
- Cleaning and Sorting: The beans are thoroughly cleaned to eliminate dirt, stones, and foreign matter. Sorting ensures only mature, uniform beans proceed for processing.
- Drying (if needed): If beans contain excess moisture, they are gently dried using hot air blowers or solar dryers to reach ideal moisture levels for caffeine extraction.
- Grinding: The dried beans are ground into a medium to coarse powder to enhance the efficiency of the extraction process.
- Extraction Process: The powder is subjected to aqueous or hydro-alcoholic extraction under controlled pressure and temperature. The process is designed to selectively extract caffeine along with other soluble constituents.
- Filtration: The liquid extract is filtered to remove solid residues and insoluble materials, ensuring a clean filtrate enriched with caffeine.
- Concentration: Using a combination of solvent partitioning, crystallization, and advanced purification techniques (e.g., column chromatography), caffeine is isolated. The process continues until pharmaceutical-grade caffeine (99% purity, USP standard) is obtained.
- Drying (if required): The purified caffeine crystals are dried in a vacuum dryer or fluid bed dryer at low temperature to avoid degradation.
- Standardization: Once dried, the caffeine is milled and sieved into a fine, uniform powder form suitable for encapsulation or blending.
- Packaging & Storage: The caffeine extract is stored in light-resistant, airtight containers to protect it from heat, moisture, and oxidation. It is then packaged in bulk or smaller containers as per customer requirements.
- By-Product Utilization: Spent green coffee biomass is composted or used for agricultural purposes, promoting sustainable waste management.
- Quality Control: Stringent quality tests are conducted for purity, microbial load, heavy metals, and residual solvents, ensuring compliance with USP pharmaceutical standards.
- Regulatory Compliance: The entire extraction and processing operation follows cGMP, ISO, FSSAI, and USP guidelines to ensure safety and quality for nutraceutical or pharmaceutical use.
