Extraction Process
  • Raw Material Sourcing: Ripe mangosteen fruits are harvested; the thick, reddish-purple rinds (pericarp) are separated and dried.
  • Grinding : The pericarp is sun-dried or oven-dried under controlled conditions and then ground into fine powder.
  • Solvent Extraction : The powdered pericarp undergoes hydroalcoholic extraction (typically ethanol-water mix) to isolate xanthones, especially α-mangostin.
  • Filtration & Concentration: The extract is filtered and concentrated under vacuum to retain potency and remove excess solvents.
  • Drying: Concentrated extract is dried (spray-dried or freeze-dried), and the final powder is standardized to 10–20% α-mangostin using HPLC.
