Harada Herbal Extraction Plant Process

Herbal Extraction Plants
Harada Herbal Extraction Plant Process
  • Raw Material Selection: Harada (also known as Haritaki) fruits are carefully sourced from mature Terminalia chebula trees. These fruits are selected based on their size, ripeness, and absence of impurities to ensure a consistent quality of the final extract.
  • Cleaning and Preparation: The harvested Harada fruits are thoroughly cleaned using water or air jet systems to remove dust, soil, and foreign particles. After cleaning, they are dried under controlled conditions (either shade-dried or via mechanical dryers) to preserve the active constituents.
  • Extraction Process: The powdered Harada is transferred to extraction vessels. Here, solvent extraction is carried out using either water or hydro-alcoholic solvents, depending on the required phytoconstituent profile (like tannins, chebulinic acid, gallic acid, etc.). The extraction process is maintained at specific temperatures and durations to ensure optimal yield.
  • Drying: Once dried, the fruits are subjected to size reduction using hammer mills or pulverizers. This increases surface area and improves extraction efficiency by exposing more bioactive components.
  • Filtration and Concentration: After extraction, the mixture is filtered to remove plant residue. Filtration may be done through filter presses or centrifuges to obtain a clear extract.
  • Purification: The clear filtrate is then concentrated under reduced pressure using evaporators. This step removes excess solvent and helps obtain a semi-solid or thick extract, retaining active ingredients.
  • Drying and Standardization: To get the extract in powdered form, the concentrate is further processed using spray drying or vacuum drying techniques. Spray drying is most commonly used for obtaining fine, flowable herbal extract powder.
  • Packaging and Storage: The final product is packed in air-tight, food-grade containers to prevent exposure to moisture, light, and air. Storage is done in cool, dry areas to maintain shelf life and potency.
