Jatamansi Herbal Extraction Plant
- Raw Material Selection: Jatamansi (Nardostachys jatamansi) is a prized herb for its aromatic rhizomes, traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine for calming and rejuvenating effects. The rhizomes are sustainably harvested from high-altitude Himalayan regions during the ideal season for optimum oil and active compound content.
- Cleaning and Preparation: Freshly harvested rhizomes are carefully cleaned to remove dirt and impurities. Post-cleaning, the rhizomes are shade-dried or dried in controlled environments to preserve the volatile oils and phytochemicals.
- Extraction Process: Steam Distillation for essential oil: The crushed rhizomes are placed in a steam distillation chamber. Steam passes through the plant material, vaporizing the essential oils. These vapors are condensed and collected as a mixture of oil and water.
- Filtration and Concentration: The distillate or extract is filtered to separate solids from the liquid. In the case of essential oils, the oil layer is separated from the hydrosol. For solvent extracts, solid residues are removed via filtration.
- Quality Control: Each batch is tested for microbial load, heavy metals, residual solvents, and active phytochemical content using advanced techniques like HPLC or GC-MS.
- Packaging and Storage: The final product is stored in air-tight, light-resistant containers under cool and dry conditions to maintain potency and stability over time.
