Kaladana Seed (Ipomoea hederacea)
- Raw Material Selection: Kaladana seeds, known for their traditional medicinal use as laxatives and detoxifiers, are sourced from reliable cultivators or wild harvesters. Seeds are selected based on maturity, oil content, and absence of pests or mold.
- Cleaning and Preparation: Collected seeds are cleaned using air blowers and sieves to remove dust, stones, and broken particles. Clean seeds are then dried under indirect sunlight or in hot air trays to reduce moisture content, which prevents spoilage during extraction.
- Extraction Process: The powdered seed material is loaded into an extraction vessel where it is treated with suitable solvents (like ethanol or hydro-alcohol) in a closed-loop reactor. The vessel is agitated and heated at a controlled temperature to dissolve the active constituents such as glycosides and fatty acids.
- Filtration and Concentration: After soaking and reaction time, the solution is filtered to separate the solid residue (marc) from the liquid extract. The liquid filtrate contains the desired phytoconstituents.
- Standardization: The final extract is standardized for specific active constituents (such as resin glycosides) using HPLC or UV spectrophotometry to ensure consistency in every batch.
- Packaging and Storage: The extract is packaged in moisture-proof, air-tight containers and stored in a temperature- and humidity-controlled environment to maintain stability and efficacy.
- Quality Control: Every batch undergoes rigorous quality testing for microbial contamination, heavy metals, residual solvents, and active ingredient content, adhering to international standards.
